Dirty Drain Pipes Lead to Trouble

Drain pipes get dirty.  Over time, that dirt becomes a layer of film that becomes builds-up.  Those build-ups lead to clogs and can lead to the pipe being completely blocked up from it scaling over.  Unless you run a camera or scope down into your drain lines, there is no way to see what is going on in there.  But some warning signs to look out for would be:

  • Drains run slow and/or bubbles come up while it is going slow
  • Constant backups where water flows back up into a sink, toilet, or shower
  • Bad smell – this can present as either a musty/moldy smell or a sewage odor
  • You have tried to clear the drain yourself and nothing changes or there is only a slight improvement

And that is where hydro jetting comes in.  Once the hydro jet is in place and turned on, a stream of hot water is fired into the drain lines.  We should note, that the stream of water is actually an extremely high-pressure jet that starts at 1,200 PSI (pounds per square inch).  And just in case we come equipt with heavy machinery.
